Who we are

A new school with
a very clear idea.

Bloom International School is an IB candidate school* for the PYP in Phnom Penh, welcoming children from Early Childhood to Grade 12 — currently offering classes from Early Childhood to Grade 5. It is a private institution fully authorized by the Royal Government of Cambodia through the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport.

Located on a spacious 5,000 m² campus in the Toul Sangke district, in the heart of Phnom Penh, Bloom serves a diverse community of students representing various nationalities. The school follows the world-renowned IB Primary Years Program (PYP), delivered entirely in English by highly qualified teachers.

To ensure a well-rounded and locally relevant education, the curriculum is complemented by Khmer Language, History, and Culture classes. This holistic approach helps students thrive both academically and culturally in Cambodia.

BIS is committed to multilingualism as a foundation for educational excellence. We offer five languages as part of our curriculum: English, Khmer, Spanish, French, and Mandarin Chinese, enabling students to pursue multiple internationally recognized qualifications.

Our teaching methodology is personalized, with individual monitoring to support each child's unique development and progress. We place strong emphasis on core values and character education, and we are dedicated to helping every student reach their full potential.

A letter to families

A warm welcome to Bloom International School.

Welcome to Bloom International School, a private day school serving students from age three through Grade 12 — currently offering classes from Pre-K to Grade 5. I hope this website gives you a clear insight into what makes our teaching and learning environment so special, and how we've built a strong reputation not only in academics but also in creativity, multilingualism, and the holistic development of every child.

At BIS, our school culture is grounded in five core values: respect, responsibility, kindness, justice, and giving the best of oneself. These values are instilled in students from the moment they walk through our doors. We want our children to grow up understanding that life is not just about following rules, but about doing what is right based on their own values and integrity in the world around them.

Our students and staff take great pride in our school. We are confident that we offer the highest level of care and the most personalized education a child can receive.

As a team, we are dedicated to continually building a school of excellence, where children are motivated and challenged, where learning is engaging and enjoyable, and where every child is truly seen, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.

We see BIS as one big family, each member with an important role, working together in mutual respect and support — always striving for the best for one another.

We warmly invite you to visit us and see firsthand what we can offer your children during the most formative years of their lives.

Our ultimate goal

For every child to graduate with a strong academic foundation, fully developed potential, emotional intelligence, excellent communication skills, and the confidence to think critically and solve problems independently.

Our mission

At BIS, our mission is to develop well-rounded, confident, and responsible individuals who strive to become the best version of themselves.

We achieve this by
1 Nurturing creativity, critical thinking, and social skills
2 Empowering each individual's abilities, self-esteem, adaptability, and character
3 Inspiring responsible citizenship and global understanding
4 Holding high expectations for quality work from both students and staff

These goals are accomplished through engagement in a rigorous, thought-provoking, and challenging curriculum, delivered from a global perspective while maintaining a strong sense of cultural identity.

Our vision

A school where academic rigour and genuine warmth are not in tension — where children are stretched precisely because they feel safe, and where a Cambodian education and an international one are the same thing.

Our promise to families

Your child will be known — by name, by strength, by the thing they are quietly struggling with. You will hear from us before you have to ask, and you will always be able to walk through the door.

Five values

Respect. Responsibility.
Kindness. Justice.
Giving your best.

Our school culture is grounded in five core values, instilled in students from the moment they walk through our doors — one for every petal of the Bloom mark.

Respect

For each other, for our teachers, and for the country we learn in.

Responsibility

Owning your work, your words, and your part in the class.

Kindness

How we speak to a struggling child is the whole curriculum, taught silently.

Justice

Doing what is right based on your own values and integrity in the world around you.

Giving the best of oneself

Not perfection — your best effort, every day, in front of people who notice.

How we teach

Four things you
will see in every
classroom.

A curriculum is only as good as the teaching in front of it. These four commitments hold across every stage and every subject at BIS.

Come and see a lesson →
01
Questions before answers
Units begin with a question a child actually wants answered, and the knowledge is gathered in order to answer it. Inquiry is the method, not a slogan — it is why our students can explain what they learned, not only repeat it.
02
Small classes, known children
Teachers know every child in the room: what they find easy, what they avoid, and what they are like on a difficult morning. Support and extension are arranged for individuals rather than for a whole class at once.
03
Languages taught, not just offered
English is the language of instruction. Khmer, Spanish, French and Mandarin Chinese are timetabled and assessed against published international levels, leading to external certification — not left as enrichment.
04
Learning that leaves the classroom
Museums, the Royal Palace, the zoo, national trips and international travel are part of the curriculum, not extras — because a topic understood in the room is understood better in the world.
How it is delivered

Our curriculum is further enhanced through the use of innovative instructional materials and modern technology, ensuring an engaging and future-ready learning experience.
